watch the mind for five seconds,
watch it watching itself
like an alert sentinel
realisation pierces through
the parallax of demands like a diamond cutter
shredding shearing
the flab flak
of the unwanted the unneeded
convoluted ingrained patterns of
thinking thoughts
the residue of purity unadulterated consciousness
decants into a moment of
meaning that spotlights existence
and everything becomes clear
sharp like the crackle of fire
~Written in response to the Brendan's Earthweal Weekly Challenge : Deep Time
Wonderfully written. I really like the idea of the brain watching itself. It reminds me of some advice someone gave me once about Being the Observer..........
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sherry. I find it to be a difficult but effective technique of meditation
Delete"Decants" is the word here that turns dross into fire. Profane time becomes deep time. Well done, and thanks for bringing this to earthweal!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Brendan. Also, thank you for this very meaningful prompt
DeleteI love the idea of 'watching the mind watch itself' - it's so intriguing: can we be the watcher of our own thoughts? Wonderful closing lines as well which end the piece with a flourish!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Ingrid! Yes, we can watch our thoughts. And when we do, they stop coming and peace finally reigns, not for long though, just for a few seconds. Atleast, that is what I have been able to do, till now.
